How Are We Paid?
Platinum Mortgage Brokers don’t charge a fee for our services. We make money through a commission from lenders. The amount and the structure of the commission will vary depending on the size of the loan and the policies of the lender.
Usually, we receive an upfront commission from a lender, which could vary between 0.5% and 0.7% of the total loan amount. For example, for a $450,000 home loan, a 0.5% commission is equal to $2,250 as our commission.
On the other hand, some lenders pay us trailing commission, which is calculated according to the remaining loan amount every year. The ongoing trailing commission is between 0.1% and 0.2% of the outstanding value of the property.
However, this doesn’t mean that you are paying higher fees when you work with us. Banks charge the same retail rate to borrowers regardless of which ‘channel’ they choose to use ie; a branch, a broker or a mobile lender. The benefit of using Platinum Mortgage Brokers is that because we offer access to dozens of lenders at once, you may end up saving money compared to when you directly apply to a bank.
